The River House at Lowndes Grove might be one of the most magical venues in all of Charleston for intimate, elegant elopements and micro-weddings. And it was love at first sight the moment Melissa & Kyle laid eyes on it!

And with less than 20 guests, we knew there wasn’t a more perfect location for their Lowcountry destination micro-wedding. Especially for fans of the Outer Banks! (Lowndes Grove is the home/shooting location of the Cameron family on the show… we may or may not have purposely scheduled our site visit during their Season 2 shoot dates hoping to run into John B and the gang haha!)

Callie & Chad's Lowcountry Wedding Bash on Edisto Island | Charleston Spring Wedding at Cypress Trees Plantation by Scarlet Plan & Design

No great story ever starts with someone eating a salad, right? And this story is no different.

So, we met at a bar… no really, that’s actually how Callie and I met! Last summer I was out at a brewery catching up with one of my favorite past brides in the whole land, Noel, when we happened to run into Theresa of the French Eclectic (y’all know she’s my sister from another mister) who was out hanging with Callie. Obvi, much squealing and hugging ensued, introductions were made, we all hit it off, insert shenanigans, lots of beverages and the four of us made a night of it.

I guess at some point in the evening I must’ve mentioned being a wedding planner (or perhaps the Scarlet logo on my t-shirt gave it away!), but when Chad popped the question just a couple weeks later, Callie hit us up to plan her wedding. And we couldn’t have been more thrilled!

Aaaaaand, let the wedding planning adventures begin!! We got together again at the same brewery, Chad included this time, laughed until I couldn’t breathe and we all became best friends. Duh. Fast forward many, many months + many planning (mostly laughing) sessions later and these two hilarious lovebirds finally tied the knot at Cypress Trees Plantation on Editso Island in April.

One of my favorite parts of planning weddings is when both partners are equally excited about the planning process and sweet Chad was not only excited, but incredibly invested in every decision we made and had lots of his own great (and hysterical) ideas of his own. I mean, just LOOK at his face in the photos! C’mon, could anyone possibly look happier to marry the woman of their dreams? And seriously, Callie is a straight up babe, y’all! Insert heart-eyes emojis here!

They wanted an epic party with lowcountry, coastal vibes, great food, surrounded by the people they love the most, and that’s exactly what we gave them! Anyway, this adventurous, fun-loving couple trusted us to use our creativity and hook them up with a few surprises, their families and friends were excited and hands-on, and Callie’s amazing dad even built their backdrop for the ceremony! How rad is that?!

Bailey & Abed's Intimate Pop-Up Elopement Wedding in Charleston at Upstairs at Midtown and the Macintosh | Destination Elopement Wedding Planners, Scarlet Plan & Design

Bailey and Abed and their families were some of my absolute all time favorite clients. Their love for one another, their joyful spirits and their constant gratitude while we were all working together made planning their intimate pop-up wedding in Charleston feel like anything but work! Haha!

Honestly, I’ve never planned a wedding in less time than Bailey and Abed’s big day. The task was big and the time to plan was short: we needed to plan a wedding for 50 guests in less than 3 weeks…during the holidays. That’s right, we didn’t start working together until December 30 and they were planning a wedding for January 19!

Thanks to an incredible team of vendors, lots of creative freedom, close to 300 phone calls, an epic group chat with me, Bailey and mom Lisa (#IMissYall), with more than a few sleepless nights, our first wedding of 2019 was a smashing success! And let me give y’all engaged couples a small word of advice, if you’re planning a wedding on a time crunch, showing your wedding planners a little bit of gratitude, flexibility and trusting them to do what they do best will go a VERY long way. Our beautiful bride Bailey, her handsome groom Abed and Bailey’s incredible parents, Lisa & Tim, showed us all of the above and then some. Aren’t they just the sweetest family ever? Seriously, we fell in love with their whole family!

Not to mention, in my 10+ years in the event industry, I’ve never had clients pull our team up on the dance floor during the reception to thank us and make a toast to us in front of all their guests until Bailey & Abed. I thought my heart would burst open! That’s the best kind of energy to start the year with!! BIG HUGE THANK YOU to their whole family for choosing us and trusting us with their wedding! We love y’all so much!!

Ok, ok, ok, I’ll stop with the mushy stuff and let’s get down to their details! Kaitlin Poirier, one of our favorite photographers in Charleston was available to capture their beautiful wedding day. For flowers, Bailey asked for bright cheerful colors in her florals, lots of lush greenery and thanks to accidentally ordering 2 BALES of smilax (instead of 2 bunches) we were able to create a gorgeous backdrop for the ceremony at Upstairs at Midtown. Greenery + exposed brick + bright colorful blooms = #drooling. To create her organic, whimsical bouquet and all of the floral arrangements we combined some of my favorite David Austin English Garden roses: peach Juliet, deep pink/reddish Darcey, and apricot Lady Emma Hamilton with bright pink Foxtrot tulips, massive white and blush peonies, rich purple anemones, and a dazzling array of ranunculus in shades of peach, blush, burgundy, white, orange and coral. These were honestly some of my absolute favorite florals ever!

Their rooftop ceremony, surrounded by their closest friends and families, was perfectly complemented by acoustic guitarist, Gregory Guay. And in lieu of a traditional unity ceremony, the couple opted for one of our favorite alternatives, a glass ceremony! If you haven’t heard of Unity in Glass yet, you don’t know what you’re missing! Similar to a sand ceremony, you and your spouse combine crystals of colored glass and mail it back to the company where a highly skilled glass artist will create a completely custom work of art that you’ll treasure for a lifetime. Choose from sculptures, vases, bowls and much more!

After the ceremony, the guests hopped aboard pedicabs from Charleston Pedicab and headed down to the private courtyard at the Macintosh for an intimate and delicious dinner reception. Gregory’s band Caja De Cuerdas kept the dance floor packed all night long!

Tia & Jay's Intimate Charleston Pop-Up Wedding | Charleston, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Destination Elopement Planners

Tia and Jay had the MOST romantic pop-up wedding in downtown Charleston, SC! They wanted to keep their wedding small and intimate so only their immediate families were invited to join them. After their first look at one of our favorite historic Charleston hotels, The Spectator, they took their portraits all over downtown before heading to their ceremony at The Vendue.

The incredible Fabiola shot the happy couple in both film and digital and we're all heart-eyes over here looking at their photos!
